'Help A Horse' Day at CCHR 2017
As the sun came up on April 23 things were already getting busy! The horses were being fed, their water buckets topped off and their pens being mucked. A pretty normal Sunday except the horses knew something was up! Little by little more volunteers showed up as well as many CCHR friends. There was a lot of activity as tables and chairs were set up, food trucks drove in, and there were all kinds of activities and booths being set up. Then, a little before 11 am, a lot of people started coming down the ranch road and CCHR's ASPCA 'Help a Horse' Day was off and running!
From the Kids Corral to the horseshoe decorating booth to the equine demos to the cart rides there was something fun to do in every corner of the event! With great live music from the band Noble Creatures playing, our guests enjoyed the equine care and training demonstrations, could visit with the CCHR horses, enjoy a large variety of exhibitors and other local groups, and enjoy a variety of crafts and games. The cart rides for kids were certainly a highly anticipated and greatly enjoyed part of the day! Folks also enjoyed the food from the Mom & Pop's Taco Truck and the Original Grilled Cheese Truck along with some cold Lagunitas beer.
Over 500 guests shared 'Help a Horse' Day with the horses of CCHR!
We are so blessed with our wonderful Ojai and Ventura County communities. We simply would not be able to do what we do without their support and generosity. At the end of 'Help a Horse' Day and indeed every day, it's so touching to know that California Coastal Horse Rescue is truly a community undertaking and that the mission of the rescue is generously supported by such an amazing community of volunteers, friends, supporters and donors.
Thank you for always being there for the horses of CCHR and for helping to make every day 'Help a Horse' Day.
